Ultrasonic Components

Ultrasonic Transducer

Ultrasonic transducer is an electromechanical device, mostly based on the piezoelectric effect. It bidirectionally converts electrical signals into ultrasonic waves (>20 kHz, inaudible to humans) and echoes back into electric signals. Widely used for ultrasonic welding, cleaning, NDT, medical imaging, ranging and flow measurement

Product Overview

Ultrasonic Transducer for Industrial Ultrasonic Applications

Ultrasonic transducer is one of the most important components in an ultrasonic system. It converts high-frequency electrical signals from an ultrasonic generator into mechanical vibration through piezoelectric ceramic elements.

With high conversion efficiency and stable vibration output, ultrasonic transducers are widely used in industrial applications including ultrasonic welding, cutting, spraying, cleaning, and sonochemical processing.

How Does an Ultrasonic Transducer Work?

The ultrasonic generator provides high-frequency electrical energy to the transducer. The piezoelectric ceramic elements inside the transducer expand and contract rapidly, generating mechanical vibration.

The vibration energy is transferred to the horn, tool, or processing component to perform ultrasonic operations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to re-tune the frequency after receiving the goods?

Each set is frequency calibrated with matched horn before delivery. It works directly with the matched digital generator without horn replacement. If you change the sonotrode, re-tuning is mandatory, otherwise high impedance, overheating or failure to start vibration will occur.

What is the amplitude requirement difference among these processes?

Metal welding, indium coating, tinning, Al melt treatment require high amplitude. Ultrasonic sewing & plastic welding use medium amplitude. Ultrasonic spray and precision cutting adopt low amplitude. Amplitude depends on horn gain ratio & generator setting. Over-amplitude operation will damage piezo ceramics.

What causes resonant frequency drift and how to fix it?

Main causes: loose horn, piezo overheating aging, worn sonotrode, overload, loose preload bolt. Solutions: stop and cool down, check thread tightness, perform frequency re-tuning, replace worn sonotrode. Water-cooled version is recommended for heavy-duty applications.

Can this transducer be used for ultrasonic welding, indium coating and tinning at the same time?

It cannot be used directly. Transducers of the same frequency have similar main body, while horn / sonotrode, output amplitude and cooling system are customized for different processes. Indium coating and Al melt treatment usually require water cooling & high amplitude tooling; spray & precision cutting need low-amplitude setup. You need to replace the horn and re-tune the generator.

How do I select the right ultrasonic transducer?

Selection depends on application type, required frequency, power output, working amplitude, horn design, and operating conditions. It would be very helpful when you can send us your total device,
